The source code for GTII can now be downloaded here. Enjoy!

In other news, BCR is our latest game in development and we’re finally revealing more details. Head over to the facebook page to see some work-in-progress graphics and get a rundown on the development of the game. The idea for BCR originally came as  a modern day update to the cult classic NES game Rivercity Ransom, also known as Street Gangs, and slowly evolved into something more over time. We’re planning on first releasing it on the iPhone and iPod Touch in the middle of this year and hope to have a PC and Mac release ready at the end of this year.

It’s our first foray into the world of 3d and so far it’s been a great trip, with a new developer onboard, Craig “Mitty” Mitchell, we are really making progress. We hope to have some actual in-game screenshots very shortly and follow that up with a video demonstrating some gameplay elements. We’re just awaiting a few more graphics before we can show this all too you, so sign up as a fan of the facebook site to be updated as soon as we release more details.

Gladiator Trials II – Source code release

March 29th, 2009
gladiator-trials-ii-source-code-release

I’m currently preparing to release the source code for Gladiator Trials II, so for those eager to check it out you will first need to grab a copy of Revolution over at http://www.runrev.com, there’s a free 30 day trial option available without any restrictions.

This doesn’t mean the full game will be free, the source code will only come with the demo resources (graphics, sound, music, scenarios). Although it does mean people will be free to create games based on the GTII source code, as long as you discuss it with me first. Don’t worry, the most I will ask for is to be credited in your creations :-) The resources, graphics, music, sound are not to be used in any way other than to look at the source code. So please note just the source code is being released to be used in your projects.

As a reward I will also include an early build of GTIII, it was abandoned early last year but some progress was made. A lighting engine for the arena, a full animation system with animated objects and landscapes and improvements to the editors.  I will announce the source code release soon.

BCR is coming along as well, we will have media available shortly to showcase our progress.

New Tagged Software site preview

The new website is now live!

I’ve just uploaded a preview for the new Tagged Software website, you can check it out by going to
http://www.taggedsoftware.com/newsite

Not only do you get a peak at the new layout, but it also reveals the name of the next game by Tagged Software. It’s been over a year since the release of Gladiator Trials II and alot of you are anxious to get your hands on a new game. More details of the game will be revealed over the coming months, alongside some work in progress screenshots.

I realise the Gladiator Trials II website is out of date and will work on getting that fixed up as well, the low $14.95 price point of the game will be around for a little longer so snatch up a copy while it’s still cheap!

Making Of Gladiator Trials II

November 10th, 2008

Finally the 2nd last chapter of the making of Gladiator Trials II has been released. Head on over to http://www.gladiatortrials2.com/makingof to continue the read.

The final chapter should be ready shortly.

Making of… Haven’t forgotten

November 3rd, 2008

I still haven’t forgotten about completing the making of Gladiator Trials II. Today I finally finished the last two chapters and will prepare them for release in the next few days.

I’ve also been working hard on creating a new website for Tagged Software, and will hopefully have a rough draft of it ready in a few weeks time. Alongside the first information of our second game!

It’s been a long time

October 25th, 2008

Yes, it’s been a long time since my last entry. There’s been a few bumps in the road and a wrong turn or two but the path now looks somewhat clear. A new game, a new engine, a new direction.

I’ll reveal more details as time goes on.

I’m keeping Gladiator Trails II at the $14.95 price point, I figure with all the economy gloom and doom it’s the least I can do. People still need entertainment and so I hope to ensure money isn’t a big factor in preventing that. I’ve been considering a release of the game’s source code, this doesn’t mean the game itself will become free though. People would be free to modify and distribute new builds if they desired, and it may be a good starting point for those new to programming in revolution. More news to come in the following weeks.

Update

August 10th, 2008

It’s been a month since my last post and due to life getting in the way I’ve slipped behind. Work continues on finishing up the making of Gladiators Trails II, the last few pages are almost done and ready to be uploaded. Hopefully it won’t be much more of a wait.

Development of the new game has been on hold until I’m able to buy a new mac, which should be by the end of the month. I’m switching development environments, moving to a new engine for the game. All is not lost as I plan to use the old code for the game’s editor and save myself a few months of re-doing old work in the new engine.

The big news is that for the month of August Gladiator Trials II’s price has been slashed from $24.95 to $14.95, a saving of $10! So for those that still haven’t purchased the game I think now is a great time to do it. I hope to have some better news in the next few weeks, including at least one new chapter in the making of series.

Late post

July 13th, 2008

I was planning on posting a new chapter this week but unfortunately my computer died last week. I just purchased and received a few new parts on the weekend so I’m a little behind in schedule. I figured it was worth getting an upgrade rather than just replace some parts of aging technology, so I now sport a phenom tri-core cpu and joined the ddr2 generation :)

Onto more important news, the next chapter of the making of Gladiator Trails II will be ready for release next week. The chapter will focus on moving from the planned expansion to the beginnings of Gladiator Trials II.  :D

Making of GTII – Chapter 6 Released

June 29th, 2008

So we’ve past the release of Gladiator Trials, gone over the failure of GT:Online, and are now into the next failure… The planned expansion and re-write of Gladiator Trials. Who would have thought that one game had so many bad starts? While there isn’t any new screenshots to go alongside this new chapter I did decide to release the design document for the planned expansion to Gladiator Trials, subtitled “Dark Times”.

It’s barely a design document mind you, missing a few hundred pages to really be used to design a complete game. But it gives you an idea of what I had in mind and how the game would have played. There’s alot of elements that made it into GTII, and alot more that didn’t. It’s only 15 pages, so go ahead and read it :-)

For those that miss the link, here it is. It’s getting close to the end of the series, which means it’s getting closer to the announcement of the next game. I’ll let you know that it wasn’t easy deciding on the follow-up to Gladiator Trials II, and I have gone through several games before finally settling on one. But let’s leave all that to the last chapter ;-) Enjoy.

Next chapter of the making of GTII

June 8th, 2008

A little overdue, but the next chapter in the making of Gladiator Trials II has been released. Check it out here. It goes into details of the planned multiplayer portion of Gladiator Trials.

The making of GTII is now at the half-way mark, I will try to release the rest of the chapters, on a weekly basis. Which should bring the complete history of the game online by early July. The last chapter will officially announce the next game by Tagged Software, which is long overdue :)
